365 Days of Film171. St. Elmo’s Fire It’s like the 80’s raw version of our somewhat modern day Friends. Jules was the extreme version of Rachel and Phoebe, put together; Leslie and Wendy were mild Monicas; Billy, perhaps Joey, but less put together; Kevin was a Ross, hopelessly in love with Leslie, just as Ross was hopelessly in love with Rachel, and the gay factor with witty comebacks was definitely Chandler. Ally Sheedy could not have looked more like Emma Watson. Rob Lowe was and still is hot - couldn’t find sophisticated adjectives to describe him, so ‘hot’ will have to do.   It was also really neat seeing some of the cast from different John Hughes film in this one.
